Glasder Building and Development has always strived to not only build in harmony with our customers’ best interests, but to also consciously build in consideration of the environment. We know that people constantly request improvements in energy efficiency and long-term durability, and we want to take the best possible measures to uphold these wishes. It is our standard to incorporate as many sustainable building techniques and products as per request of the client.
As a general practice of ours, we use the following products: Truss Joist floor joists, Tyvek House Wrap, windows with Lo-E glass and clad exterior frames, and durable exterior sidings such as Hardie siding for trim, soffits, fascia, as well as siding. Additionally, the home owner can elect to use low VOC (volatile organic compounds) carpet and paint. All of the items are beneficial in that they enhance the structure of the building, reduce monthly operating costs (such as lower monthly heating bills) as well as long-term maintenance, and as always add to the comfort and livability of a home.
Specifically, in our most recent custom homes, we have used reclaimed barn wood from a former farm site in Cary, Illinois as furniture and architectural details. With more that 21 years of experience and several resource-saving techniques, Joe Glasder would be happy to assist any green pioneers in the construction of a more environment-friendly space.
